about me

*** THANK YOU! ***

Exactly a year after joining this amazing site, I have a Gold Star! Thanks to everyone who made it possible. I've posted a thread listing everyone (hopefully) who offered support either through their comments, their bookshelf, or both - http://www.authonomy.com/Forum/posts_new.aspx?threadId=40363

I also have two short stories posted in Patrick Whittaker's excellent book, "The Unimaginatively Named Short Story Collection" - http://www.authonomy.com/ViewBook.aspx?bookid=12622

Chapter One lists all the amazing authors (present company excluded, of course... *grin*) who've contributed - it's well worth your while to take a peek. It's like an assorted box of yummy chocolates without the pesky calories.

About me: Just your typical married (twenty years) Libertarian, g33k mom of three who homeschools her Wiccan brood in New Hampshire, while dreaming about being a professional wordsmith.

Feel free to shout out by email - InternetG33k (at) gmail (dot) com or add me on Facebook (Traci Cavanaugh York) and Twitter (http://twitter.com/InternetG33k). I also plan to start blogging again in the new year (http://www.internetg33k.com/blog) - in my copious free time, of course... *grin*

The continuing adventures of Cat and Jack

***Work In Progress***

I'll be uploading chapters soon. For now I wanted anyone peeking at my profile to see my first book is part of a series. Watch this space for further updates (and real chapters... *grin*)

Cat and Jack made it through the court proceedings with their relationship, if not their sanity, intact. Trying for a fresh start, they move to Raymond, NH and hope for some semblance of a normal life. Cat knows the promise ring on her left hand will soon be replaced with an engagement ring, but wonders if she'll find a priest to bless their handfasting ceremony (and there's apparently a pool going on whether Cat's mother or Jack's will have a nervous breakdown first).

Then there's the little matter of the MySpace posting Cat discovered, that dropped her right in the middle of another Internet mystery. Not to mention the gorgeous and mysterious skip tracer she meets... will Cat have the wedding of her dreams? Will she have a new career as a skip tracer? What is a skip tracer anyway? Stay tuned...

The truth shall set you free. Except for Cat - the truth sent her best friend to jail.

2004 was an interesting year for Cat.

First, her boyfriend Jack finally asks her to move in, but months later, decides he's not ready for a serious girlfriend.

Then she finds a new apartment and a new best friend, Sharon, in the tiny town of Newmarket, New Hampshire. Sharon's failed marriage, her obsession with an ex-girlfriend, and her crush on her straight roommate Monica make Cat feel better about the confusing way her relationship with Jack is over... but not over.

The two women soon become inseparable - until Cat discovers Sharon's shocking crime and both their lives are turned upside down.

Inspired by true events, and a criminal case that changed the way New Hampshire viewed its animal cruelty laws, this story blends fictionalized people and places with actual court documents and testimony never seen before in public.

First draft - complete at approximately 99,000 words.

I haven't read the first book (Samael), but Tanit had me hooked in no time flat. The pacing was spot on, the dangly bits at the end of the chapters worked superbly, and certain moments (hello, the end of chapter two) keep popping back into my head, giving me chills. Excellent stuff, and I can't wait... view book

Hey Dot, I found this to the point and spot-on. My only quibble would be with your lack of cover art - might I be so bold as to suggest this? http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b21/InternetGeek/bigblackdot.jpg Best of luck with this full-stop masterpiece! ~Traci view book

Hi Niala, I happened across a couple of notes from you on other member's profiles (people who, incidentally, are victims of a site glitch that's sending empty messages to everyone) and decided since you were looking for feedback on your story, I'd give it a peek. My first question unfortunately,... view book

I gave the first chapter a quick peek, and I'm already hooked - especially with that chilling final sentence. I'll definitely be back to read more closely very soon - for now, straight up to my shelf! (And who says you're not ready for public consumption? *grin*) ~Traci Tangled Web Net Dam... view book
