about me

I have met some really wonderful people on Authonomy and read many excellent books on this site. I only wished I had more than 5 shelf spaces to support others with. For anyone who has backed A Gate Called Beautiful, even for a short time, I can’t tell you how appreciative I am.

Most horror and/or stories with graphic themes, I will respectfully decline.

God is important in my life, and I hope my books reflect his greatness! Kara

favourite books

The Bible, I love all of Jane Austin's works, Charles Dickens, Walks Alone by Sandi Rog, A Stray Drop of Blood by Roseanna White, C.S. Lewis, J.R. Tolkien, Francine River's works, Catherine Cookson and Beverly Lewis's works among many others!

A Gate Called Beautiful

Kara McKenzie

Will faith bring Claudia closer to a miracle? Might this young woman from the streets dare to hope?

Abandoned at birth, Claudia learns to survive by her unwavering faith and her determination to rise above life's circumstances.

Her quest to be healed takes her to dusty, roadside curbs, on the gritty sands around the Sea of Galilee, through mountainous terrain on the way to Jerusalem, and lastly to the foot of the cross, where she learns what ultimate sacrifice means.

Just when she imagines she has it all, her dreams are crushed, and her vision is shattered. Will she ever attain what she so desired more than anything in her life? Or had her single-minded faith been all in vain?

Gerard, I wasn't sure what I was going to think when I started reading this as I wasn't sure the subject matter was something I would like and the introduction is very different from the actual story. I was intrigued by Cary and his visit to the Super Collider Tunnel. I thought it interesting whe... view book

Your writing moves along quickly. Danny finds his way to New York City and stays with his former friend. I found it interesting how he happened upon his relatives who had connections to radio at the first place he stopped. It'll be intriguing to read further and see how Fe becomes part of his lif... view book

R, This sure was a colorful story with separate plots which all came together in the end. I enjoyed reading how each of the four adult children found their way back to the castle and the story was resolved. It was beautiful and sad how you brought all of the characters together in the end in ... view book

R, I read to the beginning of book three. Madeia is raised as a princess by Father Deus and adopts Fadrian, a young, beggar boy along the way. As they make their way on a journey, Madeia learns Father Deus might not be the man she thought. I learned of the fifth child who at this point was st... view book

I finished the rest of your uploaded chapters and was amazed by God's presence in your words and in your life. I appreciate you sharing so personal a story which gave such hope in the midst of such pain and suffering. If others might know Jesus and experience his freedom and joy, through your work... view book
