about me

A very nice lady beat me to the use of my legal name for publishing. She is published in sci fi and fantasy so I have chosen the by line of C.N. Lesley.

I live in Central Alberta, Canada, with my husband and cats. My three daughters live close by.

My book, Enchanted trap is finished and the first of a trilogy. I am busy polishing it right now. Other works in progress include a fantasy, an urban fantasy, another urban fantasy with historical overtones and a sci fi.

My new book, Darkspire Reaches, is pure fantasy. Think shapeshifters, witches, misplaced assumptions and you have a sizzling fantasy romance.

Sales:
Short story, entitled 'The Hurdy Gurdy Man' to Emerald Tales for their February 2010 'Carnival' issue.

Short story, entitled 'The Seventh Child' to Emerald Tales for their June 2010 'Midsummer Eve' issue.

Flash story, entitled 'Time For All Seasons' to Flashquakes for their fall edition 2010

Flash story, entitled 'The Last and Best Hiss' to Cat's Eye New Bella Anthology. 2011

Note: I will respond to requests for return reads. However, my response to spam, demanding I back books, will be met with a very simple one word response eminating from the vegetable family.

I also don't appreciate the grubby little scramble that happens if one of the books I backed happens to make the EC. No, this doesn't mean I have a free space on my shelf. It means I haven't gotten around to filling it with someone on my WL.

Enchanted Trap

C. N. Lesley

‘When is the life of a hero sworn to protect his people deemed as less than the survival of his mentor?’

In ancient times King Arthur made a sacred vow on his enchanted sword to return at the time of his people’s greatest need. This worked very well through the centuries until the spirit of his erstwhile mentor, Merlin, becomes trapped in a computer data base.

Avalon of the future is an undersea city housing the last remnants of free people, but it is failing. Technology and raw products to make the repairs no longer exists in a world over run by mutant overlords on the surface. Merlin needs a body to escape, but he has to acquire one capable of containing his power. Arthur’s will do nicely if he can generate a successful eugenics program with what is left of humanity to trap the king’s spirit into regeneration.

Who will win the power struggle? The enchanter hell bent on his own escape, or the hero committed for all eternity to serve his people? Yanked out of time, in a body where he has no memories of his past life, Arthur doesn’t stand a chance. Or does he?

Wildenwold

C.N.Lesley

When her life takes a downturn, Ella is captured by a man claiming to be a magical figure of legend. It might be true.

Ella is kidnapped by a man claiming to be Mordred, mortal enemy of the legendary King Arthur. Road blocks have been set up as the police believe he is a dangerous lunatic, escaped from an asylum. So would Ella, except this guy proves his words by making candles light by his will alone. He wants Ella to take him to a place of 'wildness' so he can recharge his magic and return to his own time.

Ella imagines dropping him off near a forest, but Mordred has other plans and insists on joining her on her boat. Having helped him escape, Ella has no choice if she doesn't want criminal charges against her if he gets caught. They head out for the Scilly Isles and then Mordred's past begins to catch up with him amid ghosts from the sunken lands of Lyonesse.

Hi Phil, I am here to return the favor. So the book appears to be split into two Main characters, Frye and Ash. I am not sure if Milt really qualifies as he isn't really strong enough. He isn't as smart as Ash and seems to have a problem processing his thoughts; ironic for a man with a big head. ... view book

BHCG review Hi Ben, You said you wanted thorough on reviews and this is what I have tried to do. I have commented on the prologue and the first four, but read through to chapter six. I believe at the end of this chapter comes the first hint of a threat to the equilibrium of this world. Someone p... view book

Club Grimoire Alternate Review. I reread chapter one and then went on to chapter two. The world building continues to enthrall me. Club Grimoire Alternate Review of Chapter 2 I am transported from the Mistwood to what seems to resemble more of a Lothlorian, although it is not made of wood and is on the ground. Still, the atmosphere of an ancient and mystic elf kingdom is there. The battle with the creature seemed to go a ... view book
