Mnemosyne

M. Lee

Civilization has come to an end. The past has been forgotten. Truth has turned to legend, and legends lost to the dust of ages.

Aside from their questionable claim to humanity, Evelyn Wynstea and Aleistar D'Ath have next to nothing in common.

One is a precognitive killing machine, a cold-hearted assassin that affirms her existence by ending the lives of magi; the other is an amnesiac healer forgotten by everyone he's ever known, a man whose secrets are hidden even from himself.

They move in different spheres, serve different purposes, live in vastly different worlds and ages - yet they are connected by a mysterious image: a burning city wreathed in silver flames, a vision that has haunted both of them since they can remember.

What is it they see?

The distant past? A likely future? Something else entirely?

Neither truly knows, though both are aware that the mystery must be solved if they wish to live.

With nightmare figures dogging them at every turn and shadows of the past demanding retribution for crimes they cannot remember, instincts and uncertain mortal memories are all they can trust as healer and assassin seek to untangle the threads of fate from both ends, living parallel lives as they quest for that forgotten in the age of Mnemosyne.

You certainly have an interesting premise going on here, with a richness in language and setting that is fairly immersive at first glance. Still, occasionally the language seems somewhat stilted, and you do occasionally use the wrong pronoun... "blades would brandish its annoyance" when it should... view book

I like this. Gripping writing, with language that certainly lends itself well to horror and shock. Very well written, I'd say. Happily backed. view book

Certainly a fast paced book, with even the opening pages busy and involved as to pull the reader into the amusing tale of the staff of the Animal Protection Agency. Thanks for recommending it to me. view book

While Chick Lit isn't my usual cup of tea, I find myself wanting to read more of your tale. The writing is intensely descriptive, the characters nicely developed and the words...the words flow with ease, if tinged with a bit of bitterness, humor, and pain rolled up into one, like a particularly nice... view book

Based on the cover, I was ready for a bit of corporate corruption and gamesmanship. I wasn't quite prepared for the gritty narration, the realistic (if not so nice) characters, or the even the odd familiarity I feel when reading over some of the scenes, as if there's a sense of frustration and veile... view book
