about me

I am a proofreader for a newspaper company and live in central Massachusetts. My hometown is Adams, MA, with a small population consisting of many cows. I graduated Marist College with a bachelor's in English, concentration in writing. I self-published my first novel, Letting Go and Holding On last year, and am working on my second novel as I type this. My first novel has been downloaded over 9,000 times on Amazon and I'm looking to expand its reach here on authonomy. Some day I would like to make writing novels my profession rather than just my passion.

Letting Go and Holding On

D.M. Roberts

Teenage violence is nothing new. But an escalation to mass suicide shootings shifts the social norm from individual angst to public frenzy.

A son who can never please his father. A boy whose family won’t accept he’s gay. A girl publicly humiliated by her friends. And no one was listening.
So they joined the newest teenage craze- mass suicide shootings. Three in one year grabs the attention of reporter Deirdre Hart. But as her investigation grows into an obsession, even the warning from her family and friends can’t stop her from uncovering the most damaging parts of her past.
And once she recognizes a blog dangerously familiar to the cases she’s studying, it’s too late to turn back. But the anonymous blogger has everyone fooled, including Zoey Young. Zoey only knows her hometown and her experiences with best friend, Laura Simmons. But when that world collapses, so too does Zoey. Only this mystery boy can break her fall; however, as their relationship evolves, his true reasons for choosing her are revealed.
As Zoey follows down a destructive path, Deirdre’s journey collides with hers in a frightening standoff. But once the truth is revealed, both are forced to make a decision between letting go and holding on.

This is the first and only book on authonomy that I've read in its entirety. I spent the whole day with it and it was worth it. I can see why this book is number one. Congrats on a wonderful piece of writing! view book

This is a very easy read, with a main character in an intriguing situation that makes me want to find out what will happen to him (and his friends for that matter). The only criticism I would offer is that, in the four chapters I've read anyway, the beginning of each is very dialogue heavy with only... view book

The only word I could think of to start this comment is delightful. I really enjoyed not only the story, but your writing style in general. The story flows smoothly with the world you've created and the characters you've created to inhabit it. Their dialogue blends seamlessly with the rest of the na... view book

What a charming story this is! I think Wendy is a great character, and I like her relationship with Finger Bones (although telling us that she's one of the few who likes him is a bit abrupt- showing it through dialogue would be better). But for a children's story, as I assume this is, that's not as ... view book

This book is beautifully written. Whether describing the environment or playing out scenes of dialogue between the children and the parents, it's obvious the words have been carefully chosen to elicit the most out of each chapter. I could see it almost as photographs in my mind, or even a video reco... view book
