about me

"Men have called me mad, but the question is not yet settled, whether madness is or isn't the loftiest intelligence. Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night."
Edgar Allan Poe

Thanks to all the dear friends who supported "Rose of the Alchemist" for so long (you know who you are!) "Rose" is now out in Kindle and soon will be in paperback. Those who burn with desire to find out how the spellbinding tale of Xavier and Meri turns out will finally know!

My second book "Seasons of Glass," a YA tale of timeless love and magic is now available in all electronic formats and paperback through Barnes and Noble, Waterstones, and other fine book sellers .

favourite books

"Eyes of Horus," J Grant, "Secret Teachings of the Ages," MP Hall, "The Fionavar Tapestry," and anything else by Guy Gavriel Kay.

Your story idea is fascinating and engaging. I think that it could be enriched with a little more visual imagery. What do the characters look like? What does the place where the action is happening look like? etc. No need to over do it, but I think a little more description would enhance the story a... view book

Your narrative voice is compelling and draws the reader into the story right from the beginning. The characters are well-drawn and come alive. I loved your description: "The street was dark and dead. It was perfect for a family like us... a family who wanted to remain anonymous." The only suggestion... view book

John, I loved the narative voice of your book. It invited me into your world and made me feel at home. Illrayth is a likeable outsider and rebel, my favorite kind of character! Your images and details are vivid and well-drawn. I've given Danmeloc, Book I top stars. Thanks for the fun read! view book

Clever and well-written. The characters come to life and are believable. You are obviously a talented wordsmith. The only humble suggestion I might make is that the story is drawn in such detail at times that it bogs down the plot. Otherwise, top stars! view book
