I love YA books. I'm not big on romance, I'm afraid.
So, here's my system for choosing books to go on my shelf:
1) Read the book blurb and the first two chapters.
2) If the story grabs me, I'll stick it on my shelf to read more. I can't promise to leave comments, as I'm a little short for time.
I read all types of books. The way I see it, if the book's well written and it grabs my attention, then it deserves a place on my shelf.
Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
To Kill a Mockingbird by HarperLee
The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrision
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
The Green Mile by Stephen King
The Mortal Instrument series by Cassandra Clare
Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chobsky
Noughts and Crosses series by Malorie Blackman
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
To name a few.
