about me

I’m a Northener, married to Julie for the past 33 years, and with a 26 year old daughter, Charlotte. I live in a medium-sized village in Warwickshire and would class myself as ‘semi-retired’…as I dread the ‘R’ word!

My first career was a civil and structural engineer working in the UK, Hong Kong and Papua New Guinea; followed by a second career as a software salesman, working for start-ups to giants like IBM.

I have always enjoyed writing, although it’s been of a formal nature for most of my working life. I did write the draft of a novel in my late twenties whilst abroad – consigned to the attic many years ago. In 2005, I tried again - the outcome being the publication of Through Glass Eyes in February 2009.

Ambitions? To win a few short story competitions (or at least commendations!) and have my second novel – The Cigar Seed – published (now in second draft.) And to keep learning my craft, of course!

Interesting story. First person viewpoint works well, although (not a criticism of you but one in general) I do find the repeated use of 'I' and 'me' wearisome. Rather too short for the traditional route, I suspect, as publishers ask for between 90,000 and 130,000 words for a newbie. Can the story b... view book
