about me

Hey world! My name is Laura and I'm a true blue Aussie with a passion for reading, writing and classical singing – though unfortunately I have never been able to combine these skills.

I am also a pharmacy student who loves martial arts (namely Karate) and as such, seem to have a finger in many pies!

I've been reading and writing for as long as I can remember, losing myself in the twisted tales that unfold in one’s imagination.

My novel: 'Guardian' is a work in progress, commenced in the latter half of 2009 as an antidote to the constant hours of study. Originally a short story, it has expanded considerably (presently sitting at just over 80,000 words - incomplete). It tells the tale of Tatiana and her sister Daisy, forced to embark on a treacherous journey to restore balance and harmony to the forest surrounding their home.
For those of you who read what I have and would like to know more, please, by all means, let me know. I would be happy to post more, if the demand is there.

I like to think myself pretty approachable so if you have any questions, please feel free to shoot them my way! I’m more than happy to return reads and comments – but I am honest. I will tell you what I think – blame it on the red hair.

The website below contains other shorter works - poetry and short stories. Things not really suitable for this site.

Anywho!! Hope to hear from you soon,

Laura :-)

When the mysterious Forest Folk come to play, a prophecy in mind and two half-human sisters in their sights, what will their future hold?

When Tatiana learns her little sister is more than human - things change. Her volatile family erupts, their mother evicted and their father controlling what little freedom they have left.

An arranged marriage, a forbidden love, strange, otherworld voices, snippets of advice and visits from unexpected and unwelcome forest forces...

When thrust into a journey she's unprepared to take, Tatiana finds herself pursued through the deeps of the forest, scaling abnormally large trees, and using powers she never suspected she had.

Hello there! I've read the first few chapters of your work - it's punchy, it's dynamic, it's different, I like it! At the end of chapter four, the obvious murnder (which in Hallelujah, is not illegal) of the Police Cheif had me laughing. Not because he was dead but simply beacuse the Jailor dec... view book

YAL Review: Hey! You have an interesting writing style and seem able to capture great detail with the smallest phrase. I quite liked some of your analogies, the empty birds nest for example, capturing mirages, catching water with your fingers… However, sometimes your words (and some phrases)... view book

You have to love those cliff-hanger endings! This one certainly leaves you on the edge of your seat (or couch, as the case may be). I found your story through the forums: I would stop reading.... now (or whatver it's called). Only, after I read the beginning, I knew I didn't want to stop reading.... view book

Hi there! This is a very fast paced and well constructed novel. You have created dynamic characters with intereting and unique personalities and names - I do like the whole part-human, part-robot thing - that said, I suppose so far into the future, anything is possible... the best part about wri... view book
