about me

About me?

LizX...British born, and after living in the sun-drenched Canary Islands for more than two decades has just returned to the frozen isla.

Writing on and off as a hobby developed in 2010 into some occasional freelance work on the internet - mostly in the travel sector even though I never go anywhere apart from down the pub!

Freelancing for www.grancanaria.co.uk was a fun job and encouraged me to express a different viewpoint on the place where I live.

Gran Canaria is also the theme for a new magazine - ongrancanaria. Visit me there on Issuu.com

After cutting my reviewing teeth on writing.com, I try to be a fair and honest judge of others work and hope others will do the same for me.

My first completed novel, The Dove,The Dragon and The Flame has now been published on Smashword .

Thanks to all the constructive comments and previous support of fellow authonomites. .

Avonia - The Quest is my first attempt at children's fiction and so any feedback and constructive critisicsm is more than welcome.

LizX

An Alice in Wonderland-type tale for imaginative young people.

Icer dreams of encountering his father, a galactic explorer, who disappeared without trace when he was a child. As a native of the Terrestrial plane, only his intelligence and intuition will keep him alive when he journeys to the Celestial to take on the rebellious god, Valin, rumoured to be holding his father captive.

But Icer – beware. On the Celestial plane, nothing is ever what it seems to be and it's almost impossible to discover who tells the truth and who doesn't. Even the Oracle, gifted to Icer by the guardian's of the stone circle, isn't a lot of help.

When Icer finds traces of his father's existence it gives the young adventurer courage to continue, but its not enough. As his strength and willpower fade, it's the creatures and natural resources he finds along the way which help him survive the ordeal.

Your story came over as very modern and with it – sort of chick-lit for the younger generation, if you know what I mean. Your writing is very clean and well-edited and so couldn't nit-pick you on that. The only thing which I found difficult to relate to was RJ's problem with the school which wa... view book

Sorry its taken so long for me to get around to giving your work a read. But got there tonight and had a very enjoyable time. Have just read the first of your short stories. It was very unusual and quite scary. Couldn't really come up with any serious nit-picks other than the double use of “looki... view book

Loved this. It was cheery and very well written. The characters were instantly believable and I was straight into their world. Particularly liked the opening - the toilet was a real attention grabber and is sure to captivate young readers. Nice write. view book

I've already mentioned the confusion of where Robbbie, Rob Peters and Mac met so will press on from there. Be it me or otherwise, I don't like the opening sentence. Its too vague. Until I read further down the para didn't realise who mac was on about. Could have been because of the previous confusi... view book

And on to chapter four... Will you make your mind up... are you going to call him Robbie or Peters. One or the other would do, I quite like Peters but I'm easily pleased as long as it doesn't change every other paragraph. Didn't like the word dubiety – its not commonly used and would stall a l... view book
