about me

About me?

LizX...British born, and after living in the sun-drenched Canary Islands for more than two decades has just returned to the frozen isla.

Writing on and off as a hobby developed in 2010 into some occasional freelance work on the internet - mostly in the travel sector even though I never go anywhere apart from down the pub!

Freelancing for www.grancanaria.co.uk was a fun job and encouraged me to express a different viewpoint on the place where I live.

Gran Canaria is also the theme for a new magazine - ongrancanaria. Visit me there on Issuu.com

After cutting my reviewing teeth on writing.com, I try to be a fair and honest judge of others work and hope others will do the same for me.

My first completed novel, The Dove,The Dragon and The Flame has now been published on Smashword .

Thanks to all the constructive comments and previous support of fellow authonomites. .

MIMESIS (previously Avonia - The Quest) is my first attempt at children's literature and so any feedback and constructive critisicsm is more than welcome.

An Alice in Wonderland-type tale for imaginative young people.

Icer dreams of encountering his father, a galactic explorer, who disappeared without trace when he was a child. As a native of the Terrestrial plane, only his intelligence and intuition will keep him alive when he journeys to the Celestial to take on the rebellious god, Valin, rumoured to be holding his father captive.

But Icer – beware. On the Celestial plane, nothing is ever what it seems to be and it's almost impossible to discover who tells the truth and who doesn't. Even the Oracle, gifted to Icer by the guardian's of the stone circle, isn't a lot of help.

When Icer finds traces of his father's existence it gives the young adventurer courage to continue, but it's not enough. As his strength and willpower fade, it's the creatures and natural resources he finds along the way which help him survive the ordeal.

That has got to be one of the most powerful opening sentences I've read in ages. It was different, it was dramatic and even though sci-fi is normally something I'd pass over – you got me... and I read on. Koios – is that a name for something? If so maybe it should have a capital K. This was su... view book

Your protagonist had me captivated from the start. He has a sort of lazy, laid back way of telling the story which really held my attention. Not as fast -paced as a thriller, this story gave me a chance to wind down and ease my way into his life rather than have it catapulted at me full pelt. Loved... view book

Anything to do with farts, for some unusual reason, always gets my attention. That's because, as ridiculous as it may sound, farts make me laugh. Needless to say, you din't disappoint me. I was sniggering away to myself by the fourth paragraph. It was the mum looked at dad part of the sketch which g... view book

Okay -I'll admit it. It's Saturday, I'm bored and the cover picture of your book attracted my attention. At least it was better than what was on the tele. And so I wondered – will the contents live up to the cover? Couldn't wait to find out! Duane sounded quite nice, though didn't really go for t... view book

Your story came over as very modern and with it – sort of chick-lit for the younger generation, if you know what I mean. Your writing is very clean and well-edited and so couldn't nit-pick you on that. The only thing which I found difficult to relate to was RJ's problem with the school which wa... view book
