The Sons of God: Book 1

Teaspoon Tara

Finn Clemenceau has always been told she's a little devil. One night, she finds out she may have been fathered by one.

Finn asks for trouble, and she always gets it. Having grown up in a circus, she never quite learned classroom etiquette. Unfairly reprimanded for tiny, harmless faux-pas like accidentally killing her teacher, Finn can't wait to be done with school and back on the trapeze. On the one night that Finn isn't looking for trouble, it finds her. In astonishingly quick succession, she's stabbed with a strange knife by an utter stranger, saved by another, witnesses her saviour fighting off a pack of demon-dogs with a sword, and then finds herself dealing with the consequences of drunk driving. It was a long night, and for Finn, it's only the beginning.

As a training teacher, I've seen the kind of fractured bullying and bravado this book portrays. I've seen stupid, unstable drug dealers, and I've overheard kids discussing first experiences. This book feels real, raw and is very well-written. Well done! view book

I finished Paragon a couple of days ago, and I have to say, there had better be a sequel! Every chapter surprises me, the characters' actions (and motives) keep me guessing, their triumphs had me shouting, and their tragedies had me in tears. It's not a story for the faint-hearted, with a complex, a... view book

As a training teacher, I have to say I think this book is perfect for 10+. It's hard to find a children's/YA book that isn't filled with borderline-pretentious descriptive language and excessive adjectives that make it hard for kids to stay focussed, but this one does so perfectly! Instead, Jinger... view book

One of the best, most unflinching YA novels I've ever read. Completely lacking in typical YA melodrama, it's honest and real. Very beautiful, and very sad, with great cross-over appeal. I think this book will absolutely get published. view book
