I was easily taken with this story; putting the Iraq Afghanistan veteran into the Mexican badlands reeled me in. I very much enjoyed it, I sailed through the chapters with ease. The writng is good and puts a the picture in your mind. Nicely written and a very interesting story, I enjoyed it. Backed.

This is a story that will only appeal to fans of the genre, I believe. And it isn't the most flowing of reads, being that every facet of this distant time has been thought through and explained. I enjoyed it, being partial to this type of story anyway and I wondered if the theories brought up were scientific arguments in general.
If you're interested this this type of story, you should enjoy it, which I did.

Unlike anything I reviewed on this site so far, because it is factual.
As for the book itself, it's an easy sell for me; I love stuff like this. I would buy it. Backed.

Very, very nicely written. Never mind the first few lines of a book reeling you in, the first lines of each paragraph seems to have the same effect!

I now had a look at both of your stories one after the other and the thing that strikes me is how different this one feels, even with a recurring charachter. Out of personal taste, I prefer this one. It has an atmospheric feel and has the more slow burning build up which I enjoy. Backed.

You're a sick man, Kev! I read this sinister, yet funny and entertaining story and tried to work out where it was going. The main part of the story, as descibed in the pitch hasn't even been touched upon yet so I still still haven't a clue. Although, an uncomfortable read at times, the ounce of humanty in Jermain is important as Gerald is simply too scummy to be the main character and would alienate many readers. Can't think of where it's going but liked it in a peep-through-the-fingers sort of way. Backed.

One for your inner-egyptologist! I had a read through this and it has a very authenthetic feel (although the wealth of detail may lose some readers), with mentions of Meroe and Kushites interjected into the story. This would be important to someone like me because it gives the story some grounding. Also, later in the story there appears to be a reference to the origins of the Hebrews; quickly dismissed here, but as this is part of a series I'm guessing it will reappear...
Very enjoyable read! Backed.

I have quite a soft spot for historical fiction (as long as fact isn't turned into fiction for the sake of it), but I was very surprised and impressed by the detail and the research that must have gone into this, 17th century Spain wouldnt be an obvious setting for any non-Spaniard to write about. It's a story that easily conjures all the images in my head and, I did try, could not see any historical in accuracies.
A intriguing story which, I believe, coincides with Spain's decline as the foremost European power (could be wrong on that one though!) Backed.

Although the story wouldn't automatically appeal to me, I can imagine a lot of people enjoying this. I think that it has plenty going for it, a strong story, sympathetic characters (we all want the child and the horse to make it) and, for me as a non-American, an evocative setting that conjures up all those Wild West images. Lots of potential here! Backed.

I usually shy away from fantasy novels, but this seems grounded and real. The premise is interesting, and would be simple enough for someone like me to be reeled in. We can all relate to someone wanting to recover their memory, after all. Another thing that has caught may interest is my suspicion that there may be a twist in the tail, if and when the emporer is revealed. but I can only speculate. Backed.

This story isn't the type I would go for to tell you the truth - nothing against the story itself, it just doesn't suit my taste. Besides this, I a read through a few of chapters and I can found this to be evocative and a nice easy read and I imagine a lot of people would enjoy this. Throw in a treasure hunt or a few gunfights then I would be fully on board! A good read anyway. Backed.

I'll admit that I was a bit sceptical about this. I'm not against the fantasy-world stories but I am quite weary of them as they can lose me a bit, but I thought the pitch was superb. And the story itself showed me heaps of promise. What I like is the humdrum is well documented which allows a more sceptical reader like myself to be taken in. Very impressed! Backed.

I suppose something that needed to eat despite already being dead should have had comic potential that was obvious to anyone! Very funny and it had me chuckling from the pitch.
"If Fred could breathe, he would have sighed" - Great line, by the way!

The premise for this is interesting, it got my attention even though fantasy stories are not usually my thing. I enjoyed the story, interesting and dark and your writng made it easy to picture the story in my head. My only criticism (unless I've missed the pointers) is that there doesn't appear to be enough indicators that this is set in the Victorian era. But, then again, maybe I've missed the pointers,
An excellent read and I imagine that this would sell more than a few books. Backed.

Although I have enjoyed what I have read here, I imagined that this may divide people a little, but judging from the comments, that doesn't seem to be the case. I say this because I think if you lose your place on a page, you may have to go back a few lines to properly pick up where you were.
The story itself intrigued me, though. Original and believable characters, I think that this is a bit of a one-off that, I imagine, would attain success though reader recommendations rather than an obvious advertising campaign. Backed.

This won't be everyone's cup of tea (as probably anticpated), but laughed along. It didn't really feel like I was reading a novel, it read more like a film script in some parts. Very different and I'm more than happy to back it!

I'm very impressed with this. It wasn't so much the pitch or even the discovery of the box that drew me in; it was just the general chit-chat of the central characters. I just followed the story along and gradually the characters became real. I knew I had been reeled in whhen I found I was unsettled by Alec's mature talk!
What I like is the incidental stuff, how many pancakes did they have, who's nose does Alec have etc. I think things like this flesh out the characters and make you care when the unfortuante incident happens and everything that follows. Backed.

I really enloyed this, although you were wise to give the warning, Tama's mind is pure filth! I think this should have quite widespread appeal because this could be set in any city anywhere (unfortunately). Well written, believable characters and a lot funnier than it ought to be. Backed.

This won't be to everyone's taste but, due to it's real-life nature, a morbidly compelling read. Not an an easy read, by any stretch, but an interesting one.

This is nice little story, very enjoyable! I think it's accessable enough for any child to enjoy, as it's not too far-flung or requires a real leap of the imagination. I'm actually a little bit surprised that no one has done this before, to be honest. I could definately imagine a few weather related spin offs. Backed.
