about me

Just finished my first draft and have recently posted my new (and hopefully improved) chapter 1 which is actually posted as chapter 12 on authonomy. Please read it and let me know what you think. It's a bit longer than the original chapter 1 as I now need it to set up various things that happen in the following chapters.

My avi is a picture of Babybird. She is extremely self conscious of her twiggy legs. The great love of her life is Fruitpip and her favourite food is basketti.

My new cover is a picture of Fruffles preening Babybird before her first day at school. It was drawn by Kunjal aged 8.

Of Mice and Men
Child 44
Five Dolls In A House
A Little Princess

FIRST TERM AT ST. TWITTERS

Sarah Monaghan

Ever wondered how birds learn to fly, sing and build nests?
They learnt everything at school of course!

Welcome to St. Twitters, the finest school for birds in all England!

Join Babybird, Fruitpip and Beauregard and many other colourful birds as they settle down to their first term at school.
It's a jam packed first term for the hatchlings, as well as all their regular classes such as music and movement, bird and berry recognition and matheggmatics there's harvest festival and Halloween or, as it is known to birds, Oak or Poke.
But the question is…why is there a jewelled egg called eggscalibur, in the hollow? But most important of all will Babybird get to play Mary Mallard in the end of term Nestivity play?

My beautiful new cover was drawn by Kunjal aged 8. It depicts a scene from chapter one when Fruffles is preening Babybird before her first day at school.

Only Joe could manage to make a book about grieving, marital breakdown and addiction this hilarious. I feel so bad smirking while poor Joe is sticking magnets in his ears, having his £2 a piece follicles pulled out or getting threatened in rehab but what can I say, it's the way he tells 'em! Alwa... view book

Very well written and a gripping read but ultimately I was left feeling that I'd missed out a chapter. The abuse you suffered is alluded to but never directly mentioned yet it is the very thing that drives the narrative. I appreciate it must be very hard for you to revisit but I read everything you ... view book

Beautiful clear, young, unjaded voice. I disagree - you are very brave and courageous. I read it all in one sitting and feel inspired and humbled. I wish you every happiness and great good luck with the rest of your life. I am sure that you will make it as a writer. You're good. view book

This book is a fabulous rollercoaster of a ride! A fascinating introduction to the murky, competitive side of running London street market stalls and the dog eat dog (or should that be the vegetarian eat vegetarian) world of import/export from India. As well as Joe's trademark hilarious way o... view book

Wow! Just read the prologue. Excellent, immediately gripping and very authentic. I can't say that I've been to a gladatorial games but I have been to the Coliseum in Rome and I could just picture the scene. Fab and well done. I hope you find a publisher soon! view book
