Hi one and all..!

Due to unbelievable levels of stupidity, I'm currently working on two books at once (well, I couldn't decide between them...).

Anyway, between them, self-publishing 'The Assassin's Wedding' and the small matter of three kids, I'm going to have to scale back slightly on my Authonomising.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to accept any swap-reads nor try and push 'Assassin's Wedding' up the autho-charts. But I'll still be swinging by to read stuff I like the look of as there's so much awesome stuff on this site! (I will, of course, finish all my outstanding swap-reads.)

Thanks to all the people who've offered kind words and encouragement on Assassin's Wedding, you're all smashingsuperbrilliant (or, as we used to say growing up in 80's in Nottingham - ACE)!

Cheers

W

The 'Assassin's Wedding' is complete at 62,500 words. It's now available to buy from www.88tales.com.
Oh, and it's ACE!

favourite books

The Neverending Story - Michael Ende : My all-time favourite book. The central theme of this book (that of endless, infinite numbers of stories) has always been a big favourite of mine. (And, yes, it's much better than the film!)

The Use of Weapons - Iain M Banks : Clever, clever, clever! And great storytelling to boot! What more could you want?

Run - Douglas E Winter : I love the pace of this book and the narrative style is unique among the books I've read. A big influence for 'The Assassin's Wedding'.

1984 - George Orwell : Scariest. Book. Ever.

The Assassin's Wedding

Wilf Morgan

"So, Michael, what is it you do?"
"I'm an assassin, Vicar. I kill people for money. I like this church, by the way, it's nice."

Mike Shepard thinks about the fact he's getting married in a week's time. Then he thinks that when your intended thinks you met at a party but you actually met at the scene of an assassination you were carrying out, it kind of makes a mockery of the concept of an honest relationship.

This is the story of the week leading up to Michael Shepard's wedding. Like most men, he's nervous. Unlike most men, he's nervous because his bride to be doesn't know he's a globe-trotting assassin. Torn apart trying to decide exactly how to come clean about the fact he kills a person roughly every other month, his week is made more complicated by a missing person, a moving target, a slightly drunk private-eye, ghosts from his past...oh yes, and wedding shopping.

This pacy, darkly humourous thriller scrambles its way from Manhattan to Nottingham to Bangkok to 1980's New York and even 1970's Scarborough (you heard me) and leaves Mike wondering if an assassin can ever have a happily ever after.

Sometimes, it's about love. Sometimes, it's about flowers. Sometimes, it's just about surviving the happiest day of your life...

That Time in Honduras

Wilf Morgan

Okay, I'm gonna tell this story pretty fast, so try to keep up, I may be dead any second. Also, I think I hear pigs.

Join a young pig farmer from Northern Honduras and an international assassin as they both try to learn about love, revenge, and what not to do when surrounded by corrupt soldiers carrying semi-automatic weapons.

'That Time in Honduras' is the exciting and emotional prequel to 'The Assassin's Wedding' (also on Authonomy).

Complete and fully uploaded, this is a very short sniff of a book at around 10,000 itty bitty words.

This has got the best prologue I think I've read on authonomy! It's so simple and short - and yet hits like a sledgehammer to the face! Even that description is slightly misleading because the impact it has is based on the fact that nothing's happening. It's word-perfect, it's almost like a poem! An... view book

This is totally excellent writing! It blends together various disciplines so well - humour, of course, being the chief one. The first chapter in particular made me laugh out loud at some of the lines regarding Cuthbert's situation with the bull. But also, switching the points of view was done really... view book

This is just brilliant! Laugh-out-loud funny but also quite unnerving and a little bit scary at the same time (you know; the kind of scary you get in a horror film at the start where no-one's taking anything seriously but, as the viewer, you know something is actually up). Excellently written, flawl... view book

Wow, what can I say about this? It was excellent, top-quality stuff - some of the best I've read in a while (and not just on this site...)! The explosive (literally) opening had me totally hooked. Upon starting the first chapter, I was originally overcome with the huge sense of disappointment that t... view book

Hi there! Just read the first few chapters and I really enjoyed this! It was snappy and engaging and the humour was just about right for the tone of the story that looked like unfolding. One thing I really liked was Charlie's predicament and how it kicks off the start of the story really well. In so... view book
