about me

I am a freelance Art buyer and interior designer. I write in my spare time. I like Galleries, modern and conceptual art, open houses, opera, integrity, lateral thinkers.
Painting, writing, competitive games (esp. pétanque poker and chess) skiing, destinations involving ancient civilisations and San Pons de Thomiers. I dislike call centres, malicious gossip, delayed travel, bigotry.

Lily

Daisy Cane

The path of a jetset misfit was never going to be easy! From Edinburgh to the French Alps, Lily is a pacy, permissive, old-fashioned romance.

"I can't possibly go to some rich playboy's flat wearing this!" Lily protested. Her outfit of ill-fitting jeans, Christmas sweater and, somewhat incongruously, high-heeled boots was hopelessly mismatched. "Don't be ridiculous," Ollie said, "they've been drinking since lunch, that lot wouldn't notice if you walked in dressed as a pink elephant. Anyway you look boho-chic, entirely appropriate attire for an ex art student. I can say you are titled but poor, if you like. New money always loves that."

Resigned to the boredom and artistic obscurity of a menial job in a small art gallery in Edinburgh, Lily is bowled over when she is introduced to Jake Bevin (a man as indecently attractive as he is fantastically wealthy) and jumps at the chance to accompany him on a glamorous skiing trip to the French Alps… However, a far cry from her rose-tinted visions of passionate clinches on snow-banked balconies, what follows is an inexorable slide down the slippery slopes of St Martin de Belleville as Lily attempts to navigate the furious one-upmanship and emotional merry-go-round of her new group of friends.

Dear Karen, i really liked the preface, it was intriguing and your descriptive elements are excellent. Amazingly enough, and this may be a controversial idea, but I wondered whether the story would have read better in the third person. iI generally love 1st person dialogue but there is something in ... view book
