about me

I'm an indie author who has always had a love of things that go bump in the night. At the age of fourteen I was introduced to Dracula for a book review in my English class. From the moment I turned the first page, I was seduced by Bram Stoker's unorthodox, charismatic character, and have been a fan of vampire fiction ever since. Needless to say, that's the reason why I writes in this genre.

I grew up on the move around Melbourne, Australia, but have made Brisbane my home. I live with my youngest daughter, our ginger tabby, Merlin, and newest family member, puppy, Harlee.

DARK LEGACY was my first novel, which was nominated for the 2012 Aurealis and Ditmar Awards, and is available for $2.99 on a number of ebook sites. The second book in the series ONCE BITTEN is due for release in 2014.

I also self-published two romance books: Novel DRIVING ME CRAZY (released 2012) and novella LOVE'S TWIST OF FATE (released 2013).

I'm a professional editor/copyeditor and proofreader.

Dark Legacy

M. A. Anderson

Andre’s well-ordered existence is catapulted into chaos when the past he has tried to hide collides with the present…

How do you tell your best friend you’re a vampire? And how do tell him you think you’re a serial killer? Andre Delacroix has lived a relatively normal existence. He’s a respected doctor, friend to one of the best detectives in Los Angeles, Reece Daniels, and can walk in the daylight, which assists his masquerade of being human. He’s about to ask the woman he loves on a first date. Everything in his life is perfect... Until a series of teen murders leads Andre to believe he could be a vicious killer. Whoever it is kills like a vampire, but with one distinct difference. An ability only he and a handful of immortals share, but they are in Europe. And his lucid dreams point to him, so who else can it be? When Reece heads up the murder investigation, he is drawn into a strategic game of cat and mouse; no clues, no DNA, and no suspects. Who is behind it? And when evidence comes to light who will it point to? Is Andre committing these gruesome murders, or is something far more sinister lurking in the shadows of this all too real nightmare?

This is an incredible story and one that needed to be told. Not only to help you, but also to let others know of what happened to your daughter. To be made aware. It is Laurie's legacy. After saying that, I'll comment on the editing side of the story. There are a lot of punctuation mistakes throu... view book

Your pitch made me want to look at this book. An engaging start to your story. Well written, nice narrative, flows nicely too. Although this isn't something I would normally read, I was pulled into the plot. I did think some of the writing, dialogue seemed a bit old for YA, but that could be just me... view book

Thanks Michael for your comments. I really appreciate you taking the time to read what I put up. Your thoughts are great and I'll consider them for a revision I'm planning to do down the track. It's good to get the perspective of a different set of eyes. Oh, and to answer your couple of question... view book

Hi there, Your blurb offers readers the expectation of something exciting, but the opening doesn't deliver this. There needs to be something to hook the reader into the story right from page one. Perhaps a prelude or prologue about one of the murders Detective Collins is investigating, which ... view book
