about me

Here is an update everyone - we have been given a publishing contract for Shakespeare's Cuthbert by Tim Roux of Night Publishing - it can be bought and downloaded from Smashwords and Amazon.com. It will be available soon at Barnes & Noble in paperback format. I (Paula) am still covering for Patrick due to his ill-health. Patrick has written a series of books involving the main character Cuthbert, and his fellow valley dwellers. The style is “satirical humour” and we hope you enjoy reading the portion on here - thank you.

favourite books

Anything gripping, Bernard Cornwell, Robyn Young, Wilbur Smith, Terry Pratchett, Conn Iggulden and anyone else with a story to tell.

CUTHBERT: HOW MEAN IS MY VALL....

PATRICK BARRETT

Mandrake Hall has been flattened for re-development. No-one knows what is in store. What is the last thing the theatre obsessed Valley needs?

I AM MORE THAN HAPPY TO READ, COMMENT & STAR RATE ANYONE'S BOOK, BUT AS YOU ALL KNOW BACKINGS OF WORTHY BOOKS CANNOT HAPPEN REALLY QUICKLY UNDER THE NEW SYSTEM, SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME. PATRICK IS STILL ILL, SO I (PAULA) HAVE TAKEN OVER FOR A WHILE.

Shakespeare's Cuthbert was the first book in the series, How Mean is My Valley? is the second. All the characters you have already met have formed unlikely alliances to combat the new threat... Who on earth is Aunt Liza?

The novel is complete and is part of several books in the Cuthbert series. The cover was designed by BRADLEY WIND.

Shakespeare's Cuthbert

Patrick Barrett

An unknown play by Shakespeare found in the valley? Will the strangers find it or can the even stranger inhabitants prevent it from being found?

Have you read Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet? Have you read Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream? Have you read Macbeth? Have you read Shakespeare's Cuthbert?!! What if there was an unknown play by William Shakespeare and the secret was known only to the 'real valley folk' and they weren't letting on?!! What if there was a way to infiltrate the valley and join the ranks of these theatre-obsessed folks? What if that chance came your way, would you take it? Would you risk all in an almost alien environment like the valley? An influx of strangers think the play is only too real and they are determined to find it. Can the real valley folk keep the secret? Is there even a secret?

In this tale full of satirical humour, word plays and highly questionable characters, Cuthbert, adrift amongst his fellow eccentrics adds even more confusion without actually being fully aware of the consequences and the impact on the valley.

It is the first in the series involving Cuthbert and the valley folk. This book is finished and every book is a different adventure revolving around evolving characters.

It is SO important for our children to read and to encourage that we need the material to tempt them with. This is the perfect book, if my children hadn't grown up and gone they would have each sat there with this book in their hands and been slowly absorbed into the tale of the Thinking Tree. Hopef... view book

This is a book I find myself relaxing around and settling down to enjoy. I don't know whether the pun is deliberate but I like the thought of a pair of boots 'Being on their last legs'. Another of my favourite phrases is "Tame with cosy names, Fingal's cave..." etc, this is inspired and a very emoti... view book

Books are for escapist entertainment and you have the knack of drawing the reader in from the very first chapter. I have spent a lifetime reading and I recognise a finished professional product when I see it. There may be typos or picky squabbles still to be resolved to humour some but if I flicked ... view book

This is beautifully written. To me the object of writing a book is so that the reader will have something to enjoy. The average reader is not a critic and has not attended a creative writing course, he or she simply wants to escape into the realms of someone else's life. You have achieved this aim b... view book

I don't consider myself able to judge young adult fiction so I did the only sensible thing, I let a young adult read it. The opinion was "Excellent, definitely one to store on my kindle and to re-read some time in the future." It was also assumed that a series would be forthcoming and eagerly awaited... view book
