about me

I am a new "author" of some sort. I've recently self-published my first book, a novelette entitled "Havoc". I'm not an English major, nor was I interested in the subject growing up, so it's a strange turn of fate that writing would be a main interest for me now. I am fairly skilled at communication, so I think that is a very helpful factor in my writing ability. For whatever flaws it has, I hope people will still enjoy my work.

Havoc

James Dubose

What chance does mankind have against the brutal invaders who threaten his destruction?

Havoc tells the story of two main characters, Jack and Charles as they find themselves in the middle of a brutal alien invasion. With a cinematic style, the story is told almost entirely from the characters' perspective, allowing the reader to feel the paranoia and despair of the protagonists in their desperate struggle for survival, and answers, amidst the widespread destruction the invaders have brought upon the earth. Showing the light and dark sides of human nature, Havoc is a story about human beings, begging the question: Is mankind worth saving, or is this the execution of well-deserved justice against our species?

Faceless

James Dubose

John Averymen is a depressed misanthropic who grows tired of the world and its inhabitants...

An attempt at writing a graphic novel/novel hybrid, Faceless is a story about a reclusive, misanthropic man, John Averymen, who wakes up one morning and decides he "can't go to work today". Fed up with society and its degenerates - which includes criminals and law-abiding citizens alike - he goes on a spiraling path towards insanity. A fascination with the media's latest hot-topic criminal "The Nurse" John begins trying his hand at super-villainy, leading him to discover new depths of his hatred for the world.

Faceless is a dark and twisted tail of a man's spiral into the criminal mindset. Taking a first-person approach, the reader is subjected to the unsettling rationalization of a broken psyche; even more disturbing, one might find himself relating to John's rationale, or even agreeing with it, allowing the reader to feel the internal conflict of how right and wrong are distorted by our own experiences and philosophies

I read the prologue so far. I'm not much of an avid reader, but I did like it. I especially like subject matter that delves into the darker side of the human psyche, so towards the ending of the prologue is what really got my interest. Unfortunately, I'm sick with a cold/flu right now, so I had a... view book
