about me

My name is Melissa and I'm in my last year of high school. I love to play guitar, sing, go for runs, read and write. I've always loved writing and there has never been a time when I didn't imagine wanting to become a published author.

I try return all reads and will give honest feedback. I will back books only if I like them. If I've promised to take a look at your book and I've forgotten, don't hesitate to remind me.
I am so glad that I have found this site. No one had ever read my book before and I love being able to get unbiased feedback. I really just want to know if I'm capable of becoming a writer.

Thanks to Bradley Wind for the awesome book cover!!! (:

The Incident

Melissa Koehler

Maddie always dreamed of dating her childhood best friend, Tyler. She had no idea her dream would turn out to be a nightmare.

Childhood best friends, Tyler and Maddie, can't imagine their lives without one another. Every day after school, they rush home to finish their homework so the two of them can spend every moment possible together. And during school, they fill the time by writing letters to each other.

Despite the fact that both friends are impulsive and extremely opinionated, they managed to stay friends through their many, many disagreements. When Tyler begins high school, he confesses to Maddie that he's loved her all along and she couldn't be happier.

She didn't expect Tyler to change though. She didn't expect to dread being with him.

Not So Sweet Sixteen

Melissa Koehler

Being curious got me into too much trouble. Now, I'm paying for it.

Sam has never been an average teenager. Sam, adopted and a loner, is tired of hiding her secrets... and being kept from even more. When she accidently discovers a strange note hidden in the basement relating to a boy she's involved with, Sam is propelled into a mystery she's driven to solve. Event after event, Sam learns more and more about her past, each new item being more painful than the last. Intrigued to know more, but at the same time, extremely hard to take in, Sam wonders if she would have been better off not knowing.

Hi, I'm here for my part of our swap read. So I've read the first couple chapters and I think you've got a great voice. It's really solid and you seem to know your main character well. Almost instantly, I feel like I know her well too and I really love that. I think everything about this book ... view book

Hi, I'm here for my part of our swap read. Sorry it has taken me so long to return the favour. I really like the way you write. Everything feels very polished and I can see that you've worked hard on this. It's refreshing to see that come across in someone's writing. I especially like how you... view book

Hi, I'm here for my part of our read swap. Sorry it has taken me so long. First off, I'd like to say that I liked both of your pitches. I thought they were short and sweet and straight to the point. I thought you gave us just the right amount of information that would leave people wanting to rea... view book

Thanks very much for your comment. I really appreciate it. The book is actually not set in England, it's set in Canada. In Ontario, there are cities that share the names of cities in Europe, such as London and Paris. And as for saying the book is incomplete, I only did that because the book is s... view book

So sorry it's taken me so long to do my part of our read swap. And wow, just... wow. I was so drawn into this from your very first sentence. The voice you have here is just so intriguing and addicting... I couldn't tear my eyes away. Nornally, I can't stand books that don't have any dialogue b... view book
