about me

UPDATE: I noticed recently that i have literally 12 pages of friends on this site. And as much as I dearly truly love y'all more than cheesecake and crack, I can not possibly keep up with my news reel with as many pages of friends as I had. So I cleaned house and just started deleting friends in a flurry to get it down. If I have defriended you and you would like me to re-friend you, let me know. Honestly I wasn't looking at who everyone was but rather --- can I get this puppy down to two pages? So I'm sorry if you are offended or if my actions have hurt your feelings. Thanks.

I'm an advertising copywriter by day. I write billboards, print ads, direct mail, bill inserts, websites, banner ads, commercials, viral videos and radio spots.

I began writing when I was eight, mainly about how mean my sister was for stealing my Barbie. After about six months of journal writing I started writing poetry and from there it was on to music.

I have written one book of creative non-fiction about growing up. With my parents --- it's definitely a humor book. Take chapter 1: Tinkerbell uses Angel Dust. Or Chapter 9: My Grudges Wear Feety Pajamas.

The book I'm currently working on is my first book of fiction with a serious tone. Now I'm not saying there aren't some fun moments, but when you're used to writing about bavarian clad monkeys twirling fire batons you get a different perspective.

Here's my deal.

1) I will read everything on my watch list. (UPDATE: If you have read my book, and not received a return read PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send me a message so I can hop to it faster than a rabbit on cocaine. And please also know that if I've forgotten I'm really really sorry. And don't hate me and string me up by my toe nails and feed me worms.)

2) I will always give thoughtful and constructive criticism. As an advertising writer I come from the school of thought kill your darlings and slay excess words. Sometimes that's a good thing. Sometimes not. So take my critiques with a grain of salt. Your opinion of your work is what matters most. Believe in yourself.

3) If you write me a message and I don't respond fast enough it could be because I haven't logged on in a while because I'm off shooting a commercial or up to my eyeballs in a new campaign.

4) PLEASE don't ask me to endorse your work. If I like it, I'll endorse it.

5) I WILL endorse all checks made payable to me for any amount over $1.00. I will accept bribes, first born children that are potty-trained, your left arm as long as you've recently had a parafin wax, and Sour Patch Kid candy as payment for friendship. I do not accept under any circumstances third born children or anything made of swine.

6) Don't be mean. I dislike mean people. And mean people make awful dinner companions. Nice people, on the other hand, make excellent dinner companions and smell of roses and strawberries. And sometimes even vanilla or lemongrass.

Come to think of it, I know quite a few completely wonderful people that smell like Gouda, too.

But hopefully you get my point. Be nice and it'll come back twice.

Positive energy to everyone on this site.

Rachel May

Going Twice

Rachel May Wilson

What if you fall in love with the one person destined to kill you? What if taking that chance means everything?

When Beatrice Evans was 13-years-old, she found a little box that changed her life forever. Since finding it, she’s been haunted by nightmares that are actually repressed memories of her past life.

Now, a widow at 31, Beatrice’s life is a shell of what it was. Sure, she’s got a great job as an antiques appraiser and a boss that adores her––if not her wardrobe––but she’s merely going through the motions.

While appraising the contents of a chest belonging to a WWII German soldier, Bea finds a half-dozen, unsent love letters that intrigue her in more ways then one. Why weren’t they sent? And what do they have to do with her nightmares?

Compelled to learn more, Bea travels to Tifton, Georgia where she meets the one man who could be the second chance at happiness she never thought she'd get. The question is: what if fate repeats itself? And is she ready to take that chance?

This book deals with loss, love, forgiveness and the connections that bind us together.

What an amazingly creative voice you have. Your skill at telling a story is very clear and strong. I believe that this story will resonate really well with children and young adults. I am really impressed. You should be extremely proud of yourself. The talent is there. And the story is wonderful. Ha... view book
