about me

I am a retired public school teacher. I am a Christian. My wife Darby and I have been married 39 years. We have 4 sons, 3 daughters-in-law, and 11 grandchildren. We live in Fort Worth, Texas.

favourite books

In the Bible, my favorite books are Genesis and John. In the 20th century, my favorite authors are C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkein. I don't agree with the atheistic perspective of Issac Asimov, but have read and enjoyed some of his non-fiction works.

Parables and Possibilities, C....

Jim Gilliam

This is a collection of very short stories and short commentaries on different subjects, loosely related to each other, from a Christian perspective.

Some of these stories might be seen as parables. I don't claim they are true. But I have been careful to avoid contradicting the Bible in text or over-all message. I have tried to illustrate what might have happened, where the Bible doesn't give all the details. I believe the Bible is literally true, and my parables reflect that belief. It is my intent to present the stories in a way that will inspire the reader to think about the truth the Bible tells.

Jaco, So far, I've only read 4 chapters of your manuscript. Based on that, I give it 6 stars. I love what you teach about the relationship between fossilation and sedimentation. I didn't learn that in school. I've done a lot of reading and don't remember reading this before. You might be interested... view book

Jori, Please accept my apology. When I wrote to thank you for backing my book, I misspelled your name as Lori. I don't remember having met anyone named Jori before. I know some women named Lori, and that's what came out when I thought I was writing your name. I like to think I'm getting wiser as I... view book

Thank you, Lori, for backing my book. And thank you for the comment. I wrote it to provoke thought. Jim view book

Bart, I googled the illness and took a closer look. I also talked to my wife about our friends' daughter. She doesn't have the same illness. Hers is still undiagnosed. Jim Gilliam view book

Bart, I've read your book. I don't know if you are going to add more. But this was very good. We have friends with a 24 year old daughter, who seems to have a similar history, but whose specific illness or genetic disorder is undiagnosed. I will recomend these 4 chapters to them. We met this family... view book
