I was born in New Zealand & educated at Marlborough College and Waikato University. I write full time after pursuing a successful career in public administration.

I was a published poet in my teens and I'm the author of the CreateSpace-published novel "Reversal Point" which was an ABNA semi-finalist entry in the first Award. Since out in second edition.

My second novel, through CreateSpace, is "Tortolona" which came out in 2010.

Peter Nugent, manager of a theatre company in Wellington and former actor, has just been diagnosed with cancer when he receives devastating news that his beloved 17 year-old granddaughter, Melanie, has committed suicide.
The tragedy saps his will to go on living.
He learns from Robin Blackwell, hospital employee and pro-lifer, that Melanie had an abortion just before she died.
Blackwell incites Peter to action against his granddaughter’s boyfriend then against the doctor Blackwell identifies as the abortionist.
But not everything is as it seems. Peter struggles first with his conscience then with his heart.

She finds out she will be a consolation prize for a visiting Singaporean collector of rare and endangered wildlife, and that she will be murdered by the smugglers once he leaves their Wairarapa farm. Frustrated in every desperate attempt to resist her captors, her only hope of survival lies with Keith Shandler, an ex-con, but his help has a price. Ben, quite prepared to risk his life for Michelle, follows a lead to her whereabouts, but by then she is on the run with Keith. Seven tourists in the Carribean have chosen a dangerous time to visit Tortolona . Their fate will be determined by rebel leader, Martin Levera.


Life in Tortolona for the disadvantaged is growing worse. The loyalty of the army is divided. Captain Martin Levera has socialist ideals no longer shared by a corrupt government. Despite his wife Libby’s friendship with the First Lady, Cathrin Duppie, he begins in scecret to form a rebel army group..

A disparate collection of strangers, at the wrong time, make decisions to holiday in Tortolona. Their stories merge when they arrive on the eve of rebellion.

Driven to mutiny, Levera and his rebel soldiers hole up with their hostages in an old French fort in the jungle.

When Levera leads his mutineers against the rest of the Tortolonan Army it inflames a civil revolt and leaves the lives of his hostages hanging in the balance.

In the story, Aimie Featherston, one of the hostages, is motivated by an ancestral connection to visit Tortolona on her honeymoon, not knowing she will become one of a group of tourists in peril.

Forde Williams' enlistment in the US Navy is over. On his way to Miami he befriends a drifter and one- time teenage runaway, Stephanie Neumann. They also end up among the hostages. Can Forde overcome the obstacles to rescue them?



 

Reversal Point

In a knife fight in a Paris slum, artist James Vallence finds the first clues to the mysterious disappearance of runaway heiress Kim Spenser.


James Vallence is a struggling artist living in a villa in the South of France. A young woman shows up at his door and later reveals she is Kim Spenser, an American heiress, the subject of a well publicised search. Masked intruders kidnap Kim and James is shot. Recovering, and with few leads to Kim's fate, James shifts to Paris to look for her. A chance run-in with one of her kidnappers (an Arab) begins a vendetta in which others become embroiled and James has to fight for his life.
