about me

If I didn’t at least try, then I knew it would be something I’d regret for the rest of my life.

It was after reading Neil Gaiman’s ‘Stardust’, that I finally decided to write a novel, an idea I’d toyed with many times before.

I wanted it to be enchanting. A story both older children and adults could enjoy equally. I wanted it to be laced richly with magic and adventure, as well as emotionally charged. Much of my inspiration has been drawn from the colourful works of Neil Gaiman, C.S. Lewis, Stephen King, J.R.R. Tolkien, Philip Pullman, J.K.Rowling and Lewis Carroll.

Now that I’ve dipped my toe in the water, I totally and utterly love writing and simply have to carry on. Books 2 and 3 of ‘the Darq Magic series’, along with a collection of surreal, twist-in-the-tail short stories are hot on my agenda.

Aerial and Morteaus are twins, born to the King of Valghara under mysterious circumstances. One seeks revenge, the other holds a terrifying secret.

A dark fairytale and the first of five books that track the rising of the Darq Magic and those that battle against it.
Book one follows the story of twins Aerial and Morteaus, the result of an affair between King Miera and a mysterious woman Kerina Locke, found begging on the streets of Cara Sophia.

Morteaus, deceived into thinking his mother and twin sister were callously murdered by his own father, sets out to avenge this terrible injustice.

Unbeknown to him, Aerial, his sister, has been hidden away in a small English village, oblivious of her past. Hidden for a dangerous secret she may hold, something terrifying has finally discovered her. Now she must run. Run before it’s too late. The future of more than one world is at stake.

Complete at 116,000 words. Prologue and Chapters 1-3 uploaded to Authonomy.

I don't usually read this genre but you weave words incredibly well, creating a powerful mix of creepiness and imagery. Marcus is deeply disturbing which adds a mass of fascination and intrigue to the story. Your descriptions are vivid while the pace and tension build nicely. From what I've read of ... view book

I've read the first three chapters and they're written brilliantly. You describe Jack's thoughts and situation remarkably well and you don't hang about with pointless details. It moves quickly and keeps the reader interested. The very best of luck with this, Stewart R 'Darq Tide' view book

Hi Dan, a lot of thought has gone into this and it shows. The writing flows brilliantly, the dialogue crisp and the suspense draws you in, right from the beginning. It's a great idea and I'll definitely be reading more over the next few days. Best of luck with it, Stewart R 'Darq Tide' view book
