about me

Englishwoman now living in Canada.

The move to a new country finally gave me some time to get back to the story that I started writing in 1985. I was still at school and used to write it on the school bus to pass the time. Twenty-four years later, it was finally in a state which I thought was fit to share with other people.*

I've published the novel in full (for free) on the Smashwords site (link below: if you'd rather read it in another electronic format) and it is also here in its entirety. I appreciate honest and constructive feedback.

There are a sequel and a sort-of prequel lurking around in various fragments. I'm hoping those won't take another twenty-four years each. :-)

If you'd like to get in touch privately, my email address is BraithwaiteAJ@gmail.com.

*I did do some other things in all that time, I feel I should point out.

This is a great first chapter - really enjoying it. It draws you in straight away. Might just sit here and read the rest this afternoon. ;-) Amanda view book

This is excellent - I can see the influence of Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett at work here, but with your own unique voice. Thoroughly enjoying it and I know that my father and husband (who both are involved in the financial industry) would love it too. Amanda view book

Hi Sue Some lovely anecdotes here, which I can imagine dog lovers enjoying. I think you might want to put an apostrophe in your title, though, to make it "It's a Dog's Life". Best wishes, Amanda view book

Hi Bragitta I'm enjoying your story. At first I thought your first chapter was a bit unremittingly grim, but then I remembered what it was like to be a teenager and decided that this would actually resonate pretty well with your intended audience! Your writing is great, flows smoothly and pulls t... view book

I've read up to the end of chapter 3 and am finding this a great read - instantly gripping. Your writing conjures up the place and the lives of these people effortlessly. Deserves to do well! Amanda view book
