about me

I live in Bristol where I work full time in an office job and spend almost all the rest of my time writing (that sounds so sad but I'm actually becoming a total recluse).

I've just finished the first draft of my first novel, Ida, and am working on the second draft - which I'll put up here as I go.

favourite books

The Blind Assassin, Margaret Atwood
The Hours, Michael Cunningham
For Esmé with Love and Squalor, JD Salinger
I Capture the Castle, Dodie Smith
Martha Quest, Doris Lessing
The History of Love, Nicole Krauss
Wuthering Heights, Emily Brontë

There are a few typos ('cursed them both' should be 'i cursed them both' I guess?) but they don't matter much. I wondered about the first line - I can certainly remember being far younger... view book

This is really lovely and exactly the kind of book I like (I notice actually that we like alot of the same authors). I love the idea of a 'book of causes' and despite being a quiet hook got me straight into the story and told me a lot about Catherine instantly. I like the heavy emphasis on Cathol... view book
