about me

I grew up in Germany, studied English and then moved to London and from there to Ireland, where I stayed for a good 12 years before unexpectedly moving back to Germany with my (French) husband.

English may not be my native language, but it certainly is my preferred one...

favourite books

Anything by Jane Austen; Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and the Silmarillion; the Harry Potter series; books by authors such as Charled Todd, C. S. Harris, Ashley Gardner and Candice Hern; the Flavia de Luce books by Alan Bradley; also a lot of non-fiction about the Napoleonic era

The Merry Congress

Ingrid Rousselin

Spies, intrigue, romance and murder - at the Congress of Vienna in 1814.

Octavius Shute, most confidential associate of the British Foreign Minister, has enough on his mind, with the Congress of Vienna about to start, without having to deal with the most aggravating - and utterly irresistible - woman he has ever met, the Countess of Ponferrada. And things only get worse when there is a murder...

Lily Mackenzie Montoya, Countess of Ponferrada is a woman with a murky past and absolutely no interest in affairs of the heart. And Octavius is not exactly the type of man she would be interested in even if she were looking for a lover or a husband. Nevertheless he begins to wear down her defences...

But one of them has an unknown enemy, who will not stop until he has destroyed either of them, or both.

Hi Sharda, I have read the first eight chapters now, and I have to say that it is a very good read! The characters are very strong and likeable (even Aunt Julia). It's easy to get sucked into the story (I thought I'd read four, maybe five chapters...) and you have done an excellent job bringing the... view book

Hist. Fict. Group Read (Chapters 1 to 3) Dear Mr Tausch, you are writing a powerful tale! It looks to be well researched with plenty of details on living conditions, food etc. for readers to be able to picture the scenes you describe. If anything, I would like to see even more details - perhaps ... view book

Hist. Fict. Group Read Hi Alan, I have only read the first chapter, but I will definitely read on! The start of your book reminds me of Victorian/Edwardian ghost stories, with horrors barely glimpsed but very present in the narrative. I like that a lot! You describe the scene very well, and the ... view book

Hist. Fict. Read This is really a great story you have going there! Sally makes a wonderful, strong heroine, and you spin a gripping yarn that has readers looking for more, I'm sure! I can definitely see the influence of Catherine Cookson there. The only problem I've had was with the dialect. ... view book
