I was having a pretty crappy day, until I read this! From the beginning of the first chapter, a smile was on my face. Baby Bird is adorable, and pretty funny, too. "I served it at nest temperature" made me laugh. The writing is clever and flows nicely. R'S LARK THIS BOOK! view book

I think you definitely have a powerful imagination and a knack for storytelling, but there were too many errors for me to finish the first chapter. And—I apologize, but I must say it—how is this not a rip-off of Harry Potter? That was another reason which prevented me from reading any further. view book

Fresh, brilliantly written, and a joy to a read. I can't look away. "Blanca" is my new favorite.
Happily 6-starred and backed.

I've been reading a little bit of this delightfully irreverent biography every night, and with every sentence I'm being pulled deeper into your fascinating world and life. I love your humour and the diction is excellent. You're a very talented writer and it shows in every sentence. The characters are hilarious and funny. What an asshole, that ex of yours! Can't wait to read more, and I feel it'll be difficult to ever remove this one off my bookshelf! view book

Wow. The writing is so poignant, provocative, and original. I love how the writing jumps around a bit. Inconsistency can definitely be fun and keep the reader guessing. You also do a good job of expressing your feelings merely through stating facts and adding a little wit to it, all without giving away too much of your feelings (which I'm assuming are saved for later) and the plot. Happily backed and rated 6 stars! Hope to finish it soon.

I love this so much, and I already have a print out of the first chapter. Would you mind emailing your entire book to me so I can format it for my Kindle? :D If not, I understand. Thanks!

This is an awesome read! I just finished the first chapter and, while it began a little slow, I am hooked. Really clever and witty writing. Great, unique, enticing characters. I'm going to read more now! Happily backed and highly rated.

Frank,

The first thing I loved about "Shaman's Lure" is the powerful imagery. It's beautifully written and very descriptive. I can picture all of it. Another thing I noticed was the "feel" of the story. It definitely "feels" like a crime novel, which is good. I definitely liked how you began the story and then rewinded time. It makes me anxious to find out what happens between now and then! Your writing is elegant yet it's not pretentious. The alliteration is great, too! I'm looking forward to reading more, and I'll comment as I go along!

Jane, I just finished the first chapter, and I am truly glad that I backed this book. The fact that your story had the power to nearly make me cry all within the very first chapter is quite indicative of how profound and moving your memoir most likely is. I adore the simplicity of the language and the style, and I certainly disagree with those who have critiqued it. Your writing is a breath of fresh air, and I could feel your hopes becoming my hopes as I read. I, too, was worried and dismayed when the doctor continually denies you the purple tablets. You seem to effortlessly convey the pain and the anguish you experienced taking care of your mother, and being so lost and fragile, and I felt all of that love you have for your mother pouring through the story. This is beautiful work, and I certainly hope to see it published someday. A transcendent and impelling memoir. BACKED and rated SIX STARS with pleasure. Best of luck to you.
